Indoor Floors

fawn-color-basement-before-and-after-400pix72.jpgSealGreen is a specialist in addressing inside floor preparation for cleaning, staining with color and sealing concrete with environmentally safe products. We have 18 years of experience with residential, commercial, or industrial concrete slabs below ground level, at ground level or multi-floor concrete slabs buildings.

Our beginnings with inside floors started with our own basement, when we discovered that there was extraordinarily little technical support to finish our basement floor correctly. The plan for our basement was to cover the floor with ceramic tile so it would have durability and minimal maintenance during the years. (No color stains were available at the time)

As we developed the plan for the project, we found out that the concrete floor which is below ground level (below grade industry term) needed to be sealed because here in Kansas our soil is clay and retains humidity. As we contact several construction suppliers, big residential suppliers, for a solution. None were interested or had the resources to advise what would be the best sealer for our application. Since we were planning to install ceramic tile, it meant that we needed to have a bondable seal surface. Few suppliers could provide a solution but the quantities that we had to buy were excessive. As we researched, we found the perfect solution, a penetrating sealer which meant it was inside the concrete leaving the surface bondable for our tile floor. This triggered our pursuit of developing a sealer that would penetrate the concrete and seal, it had to be bondable, durable, and simple to apply with no VOCs. The solution was SealGreen E10 Epoxy Water Based Vapor Barrier Sealer.

The SealGreen E10 Epoxy Vapor Barrier Sealer is a one-part epoxy sealer with no pot life, no VOCs, dries in 2 hours and it cures glossy clear. Therefor it can be used as a sealer for a flooring solution, or after a color stain is applied to the concrete it can enhance the color of the floor and seal and protect the floor leaving a gloss wet look finish, It can also be used as a vapor barrier in which each coat applied will lower the level of humidity transferred.

18 years ago, color stain on concrete was not an option, but today we have SealGreen Color Stains to stain a concrete floor with a variegated natural color look (Not a painted look). The SealGreen Color Stains are water based which mix with water to obtain a custom color density, can be mixed with other SealGreen Color Stains to obtain that great designer look. They are available in fifty-six colors, UV protected, and are fully chemically compatible with SealGreen E10 Epoxy sealer, and SealGreen SG20 Tintable penetrating Sealer (applicable to inside and outside floors) and SealGreen W10 Finish Gloss Coat.

The application of color stains and SealGreen E10 sealer make a great solution for your inside concrete floor. This combination of products is more cost effective than most flooring solutions.

As a final note in inside floors, it is recommended to apply a sacrificial coat on top of the color stain and the E10 epoxy sealer to protect the floor. Why? By applying SealGreen W10 Finishing Gloss Coat you create a barrier between the daily traffic wear and tear of people walking over the floor. This protection layer is easily refreshed by just applying another treatment overnight in the areas where the floor needs treatment. Many establishments use our SealGreen W10 to maintain their floor looking great at a minimum expense.
