It is winter. We can wish it wasn't but it is. And with winter comes snow, blowing snow and ice. This winter lots and lots of ice.  And then there is the bitter cold creating danger from slipping and sliding, auto accidents and freezing from exposure. There are numerous ways to stay safe at times like these and safety items that we should all have available in our cars whenever we venture out on dangerous roads.

Driving tips:

  • Accelerate and decelerate slowly.....
  • Drive slowly and allow double (if not triple) the following distance as when it is dry......
  • Don't stop going up a hill or at all if you can avoid it.....
  • Don't change lanes if you can avoid it....
  • Stay home if at all possible.  Try to decide if going out is worth risking your life and the lives of others on the road....
  • Tell someone where you are going, when to expect you and have a rescue plan in case you get stuck.
