D-Cracking (deterioration of the aggregate within the concrete)

Problem: D-Cracking is the result of placing the concrete slab over a surface that has poor drainage capability. The continuous humidity combined with the freeze and thaw cycles breaks down the components of the concrete slab from the bottom up. Usually found near the edge of the concrete where it meets with the lawn, landscape or street curve. The initial damage is display in Stage 1 where it shows small cracks in a pattern on the surface of the slab, Stage 2 will show the cracks opening and separating, and Stage 3 shows that patching the damaged areas is only a temporary solution eventually the complete slab will turn into gravel.

Solution:  SealGreen Penetrating Concrete Sealer has proven to slow down the deterioration process. There is no product available today that will stop problem.  Eventually the section of slab will need replacing over a good drainage surface such as 4 - 6 inches of gravel base.
